DCARA Members,
DCARA is looking for members interested in helping explore the development of an amateur radio mesh network using Meshtastic, MeshCore, or a similar system.
The idea is to place mesh equipment at existing DCARA repeater sites and operate the system under the appropriate DCARA amateur radio license. We are looking for volunteers, especially someone willing to help lead the project and put together a proposal for the DCARA officers.
The group would research the available technologies, frequencies, equipment needs, possible site locations, coverage, costs, FCC Part 97 requirements, and potential uses for amateur radio, public service, and emergency communications.
No final system has been selected. We want the project team to look at the options and recommend the best approach.
You do not need to be an expert to help. If you are interested in RF, networking, LoRa, emergency communications, or new amateur radio technology, we would like to hear from you.
If you are interested in helping, especially if you are willing to lead the effort, please reach out.
