Join us for the return of a DCARA Field Day tradition!
On Saturday, June 27, at 5:00 PM, during ARRL Field Day 2026, the club will host a potluck dinner at the Post Oak Pavilion at Pilot Knoll Park, our traditional DCARA Field Day location.
DCARA will provide:
- Hamburgers
- Hot Dogs
- Chicken Drumsticks
- Buns and Condiments
- Bottled Water
- Soft Drinks
Members, family, and guests are encouraged to bring a favorite side dish, dessert, snack, or other item to share. Whether it’s baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, chips and dip, cookies, brownies, fruit, or your own specialty dish, we’d love to have it.
No sign-up is required, and bringing a dish is completely optional. Everyone is welcome to join us for good food, fellowship, and amateur radio fun.
As we gather for Field Day, we’ll also celebrate our nation’s upcoming 250th Birthday. While Independence Day falls the following weekend, we’re close enough that we’re going to celebrate it anyway! Join us as we enjoy great food, great company, and the freedoms that have allowed amateur radio operators to experiment, serve, and connect communities for generations.
Bring a lawn chair, bring your appetite, and come spend the evening with fellow hams, friends, and family.
OVERNIGHT OPERATIONS
Historically, DCARA has operated around the clock during Field Day, with operators keeping the stations active through the night and into Sunday. In recent years, however, overnight participation has declined, and continuing that tradition will depend on having enough members willing to commit to overnight operation and Sunday morning cleanup.
If there is strong interest and sufficient volunteer commitment, we will gladly keep the stations on the air overnight. Otherwise, the plan will be to begin shutdown and pack-up activities following the Saturday evening dinner.
Please let a club officer know if you are interested in participating in overnight operations so we can determine the best course of action.
