ARES: Michael Porter KF5LDJ reported on the ARES Simplex net/test. There were 3 NCS, Robert Allen K5IKD Gerald Marchant WB5NZV and another whose name I didn’t get. Michael suggests having the ICE plan programmed into your radios.
Christmas Party: Christmas dinner will be December 7th, 4:00 PM at Angelina’s Mexican restaurant in Hickory Creek. Ticket price is still being worked on. There will be a link on the DCARA website to purchase tickets.
Committees: Cliff Hemming KG5HHL still needs volunteers for the Monday Training and Information Net NCS.
Stewart Rabinowitz KE5UT reminds us the Sunshine Committee is available to send appropriate wishes to members who are ill or have had a loss.
Winter Field Day is scheduled for January 25-26, 2025 at Pilot Knoll Park, Post Oak Pavilion.
Area Clubs: Roger Carver AE5EZ reported LARA is participating in POTA. The next POTA is scheduled for November 9-10 at Arrowhead Park near Wichita Falls and will be an overnight trip.
Operations: Andrew Koenig KE5GDB reports the Tour de Cure October 26, 2024 barely scraped by as more volunteers were needed. There were about 150 riders. The Turkey Roll is November 23, 2024 sponsored by the Denton Breakfast Kiwanis. 40 volunteers are needed as DCARA runs all the SAG vehicles for the event. Andrew also reported on the K5RWK balloon launch and recovery September 21, 2024. The balloon reached 11,315 ft before burst. Andrew shared lots of photos and videos from the balloon’s onboard cameras.
