The Denton County Amateur Radio Association, DCARA, will host an Amateur Radio General License Class on May 20-21, 2023. This class along with study materials will prepare you to take your exam on the final day of the class. The cost is $25.00 payable to the club’s PayPal account. This fee includes your license exam fee and a box lunch on Saturday
Registration and Payment: Go to the DCARA website www.dcara.net and pay the $25 class fee by going to the “Membership” page, click “Misc Payment” and put “General Class” in the reason for payment.
Please also send training@dcara.net a message so you will be added to the class roster.

Sunday May 21, 2023 9:00 am to 3:00 pm followed by the VE exam session at 3:00 pm

The class includes both days, Saturday and Sunday with the test on Sunday. You are not expected to go through the whole book prior to the class, but it helps if you do some studying ahead of time as the class goes fast. Many get a head start on the course content using many available resources. The ARRL General Class License Manual 9th edition is a more in-depth study option available at arrl.org or Amazon.
There are also several online options and you may also find phone apps that will drill you on the test questions. The ARRL.org site has a lot of information and links. An online search for Ham Radio Test will direct you to several free practice test sites that are great practice for the pool of test questions actually used on the test.
